Pumpkin Math

We learn about quantitative data and qualitative data by digging in to some pumpkins.  We got to  pick  a pumpkin and name them.  We named then Bob, Bobby, and Lop.  We also did math with our pumpkins by taking out the seeds and counting the pumpkin seeds and we also weighed our self then held the pumpkin and weighed our self again then subtraced the smaller  number and thats how we got our answer.  We measured the circumference using a measuring tape.

We also used adjectives to describe how the pumpkin looked, smelled, felt, and sounded.

Halloween Partyyy

October 29th, third grade students had the most awesome Halloween party in the gym/cafeteria.
We had lot of games.  One of the games was to hit a ghost balloon towards the pumpkins and headed back to their class the next person will do the same thing.  The next game you take a broom and sweep the pumpkin to the other pumpkin, and sweep it back.  After the games we ate snacks and took photos and felt monster teeth, ears, brains and eyeballs.  We had the most fun of all!!!

Fire Safety Assembly

We  went to the fire safety assembly.  We learned to stay calm when there is a fire. We got to see the Jaws of Life. We also learned that a fire truck can hold 35,000 pounds of water in 1 fire truck. We also got to wear a fire man coat it was heavy. It can stand 300 and something of fire with out burning you for 30 minutes. The Jaws of Life is a tool that pries open a car door or a car roof. When we put on the coats it felt like it weighed 5 pounds and it was hot wearing it. They had ladders/axes/water hoses.

This week we were doing math with base 10 blocks and hundred blocks and 1 blocks. We used them to help us add numbers.  They helped us see that we are adding 2 hundreds instead of 2, or 3 tens instead of 3.  We are now doing 3 numbers like 20 +70+ 91=181. It's kinda hard kinda easy it's challenging.

IPads

This week we started using IPADs. We got to play a fun math game. We have different ranks on the math game. That's what makes it fun and challenging. The problems are kinda easy and hard. Its fun because it's our first time playing iPads.  The good thing is its math too, so at least we are learning more math. We only play the math game when we are done with our work or extra work. We do it sometimes  when we are in interventions with Mrs. Condron. We can only play the math games on the iPad with permission from Mrs. Condron. If Mrs. Condron sees us going to different games or websites or YouTube we will get in trouble big-time. You have to follow the rules to the iPads or you won't get to play on the iPads.  Our whole class gets to play on the iPads so it's fair. We try our best to not get in trouble on the iPads. We also play iPads for free time. We have to hold the iPads with two hands. We get to use them for writing to fix are words. We need to respect the iPads.

Spirit Day

On Spirit Day, we wore our Eagle shirt or wore red and black. We went to a parade at the school. At this fine homecoming parade, we saw a lot of floats. We saw cheerleaders and volleyball and football players and softball players and soccer players.

Hawaiian Day

On Hawaiian Day, we took pictures of our class funny and serious. We all tried to find costumes that fit in with Hawaiian Day.
