This week we started using IPADs. We got to play a fun math game. We have different ranks on the math game. That's what makes it fun and challenging. The problems are kinda easy and hard. Its fun because it's our first time playing iPads. The good thing is its math too, so at least we are learning more math. We only play the math game when we are done with our work or extra work. We do it sometimes when we are in interventions with Mrs. Condron. We can only play the math games on the iPad with permission from Mrs. Condron. If Mrs. Condron sees us going to different games or websites or YouTube we will get in trouble big-time. You have to follow the rules to the iPads or you won't get to play on the iPads. Our whole class gets to play on the iPads so it's fair. We try our best to not get in trouble on the iPads. We also play iPads for free time. We have to hold the iPads with two hands. We get to use them for writing to fix are words. We need to respect the iPads.

Spirit Day
On Spirit Day, we wore our Eagle shirt or wore red and black. We went to a parade at the school. At this fine homecoming parade, we saw a lot of floats. We saw cheerleaders and volleyball and football players and softball players and soccer players.
Hawaiian Day
On Hawaiian Day, we took pictures of our class funny and serious. We all tried to find costumes that fit in with Hawaiian Day.

Salute
Salute is a fun and silly math game that we play. Students are divided into groups of three using fair sticks. The cards are dealt to only two players. Each of those two players place a card on their forehead facing the other two players (not looking at their own card). The third player tells the sum of the two cards. Each of the players with cards have to guess what number they have on their forehead. This is great practice for addition facts. It is also a little introduction into algebra because they are figuring out a variable. This game can be adapted for subtraction and multiplication. All it takes is a deck of cards.
Spelling Practice
Both Bloggers are sick this week so Mrs. Condron is going to take over. Thank you for all of your hard with studying spelling words with your student. I wanted to share what we do in class to practice spelling words. We practice spelling 15 minutes each day. Sometimes we quiz each other over our words using dry erase boards. Sometimes we practice our spelling words with partners using spelling games such as tic tac toe (spelling style), hangman, sign language, and spell words on a partner's back. One day we work on our spelling words by ourselves using activities like sailboat writing, silly sentences, looking words up in a dictionary, and counting syllables. Ask your student about each of these activities and which is their favorite!!

Learning Garden
Today at the learning garden we dug holes, we made worm houses, we even picked tomatoes.
In the beginning this fun activity we planted lettuce seeds. It was so cold outside (That`s why we`re wearing coats!).

Small Reading Groups
During small reading groups, we are making predictions about how stories end. These students are working hard using the text to back up their predictions. Good readers back up their thoughts with information from the text.

Decorating our Reading Notebooks
When we decorated our notebooks, we cut out old book order sheets and glued them to our notebooks to show that we like books. This was a fun project we did.
